The media hate Donald Trump. From the second he descended that escalator to announce he was running for president in 2016, the media made it their job to destroy him.
He was, and remains, Adolf Hitler reincarnated. An existential threat to democracy and the American way of life. He'll turn America into 'The Handmaid's Tale', complete with the nifty red robes.
Blessed be.
These are all things the media and the Left have said. Repeatedly. I've documented them here, as have my colleagues, many, many times. So far, their rhetoric has inspired two unhinged Leftists to try assassinating Donald Trump.
Make no mistake: the media know this.
Melania Trump knows, too, and wasn't afraid to call out the media in a recent Fox News interview (you can watch the entire interview here):
Especially that we hear the leaders from the opposition party and mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him vile names,” she said. “They only fueling a toxic atmosphere and giving power all of these people that they want to do harm to him. This needs to stop. This needs to stop. The country needs to unite.
She is 100% correct.
But the media do not want us to make that connection, and to hold them accountable.
Which is what led CNN's Christiane Amanpour to accuse Melania Trump of making a 'false and dangerous' accusation.
Mrs Trump is mistaken, political violence is not the fault of the “mainstream media” and I wish she would take back this false and dangerous accusation.https://t.co/rPYQN4Q6xq
— Christiane Amanpour (@amanpour) September 27, 2024
Amanpour is not only wrong, she's a liar and she's trying to gaslight us.
Above, I cited multiple examples of the rhetoric the Left and the media have used to describe Donald Trump for the better part of a decade.
They don't limit themselves to fanning the flames when it comes to Donald Trump. They work overtime to stir up civil unrest if there's a police shooting of a Black suspect -- 'hands up, don't shoot'? That was a lie (and WaPo admitted as much) by the media meant to foment civil unrest after police shot Michael Brown. The same media elevated Jussie Smollett's hoax hate crime without question, as well as the 'noose' that wasn't in Bubba Wallace's NASCAR garage, and made sure to attack skeptics as racist or homophobic.
It's a pattern.
And it's only gotten worse since Donald Trump entered the political scene.
Make no mistake: the words they use to describe Trump are intentional.
They let guests -- like MSNBC letting historian Douglas Brinkley say a Trump election win is 'doomsday' -- say these things on-air and go unchallenged. A C-SPAN caller advocated for Trump's assassination live on-air. The Secretary of Commerce said Trump needs to be 'extinguished for good' (again on MSNBC).
This, too, is intentional. They are choosing the words they use on purpose. These aren't gaffes or slips of the tongue. They mean everything they say. They are also choosing to let guests go unchallenged and to let their violent rhetoric be broadcast to millions with a singular goal in mind: harm Donald Trump.
There is no other explanation for their use of such charged rhetoric. The Left and the media hate Donald Trump so much they use hyperbolic, inflammatory words to describe him precisely to drive someone to hurt or kill Donald Trump.
Donald Trump -- in their minds -- is literally Hitler. And -- in their minds -- the only way to deal with Hitler is to kill him. They're pretty darned open and vocal about it. That is the outcome they want. They don't care if they burn every last shred of their credibility. They don't care if they undermine the institutional norms and ethics of journalism.
If Donald Trump is the threat they say he is, eliminating him is the only logical conclusion, and all else be damned.
It is the absolute height of arrogance for Amanpour to call Melania's words 'dangerous' and demand a retraction. Melania made a factual statement: the media have repeatedly called Trump a threat to democracy.
If merely pointing that out is -- in Amanpour's reasoning -- dangerous, then it's dangerous for the media to repeatedly and vocally say Donald Trump is a threat to democracy, too. In fact, it's more dangerous.
Two men have tried to assassinate Donald Trump. To date, zero people have tried to assassinate a member of the media because of what Melania said.
Melania has every right to call the media out. This is her husband, and the father of her son Barron. And the Leftist media want him dead. There is a long, long list of examples of the media using violent, inflammatory, dangerous rhetoric with that end in mind.
Melania just held up a mirror to the media, and showed them -- and the world -- exactly what they're doing.
It's not Melania's fault Amanpour doesn't like the reflection being cast back on her.
