The Empress's New Clothes: Do Not Despair the Election, Kamala Is Weaker Than the Media Portrays

ImgFlip

Thirteen days ago, I was on a plane to Hawaii for our family vacation. This was, in part, to get away from Milwaukee during the RNC -- an event during which I expected tremendous civil unrest in the city I (for now) still call home. It was also meant to be a time of just escaping reality for a while in a tropical paradise.

This year started out rough for us, personally, and has been rather insane politically as well. We were on the final approach to Honolulu's airport (no, seriously, the we could spot Pearl Harbor from the plane) when news broke of Donald Trump almost being assassinated.

And, since that time, it's felt like the political universe put the pedal to the metal and has not once tapped the brakes.

Now it seems Kamala Harris is the Democratic Party's nominee. This is problematic. But not for Trump.

First, the Democratic Party -- those self-proclaimed 'defenders of democracy' -- basically crowned Kamala as the nominee without a single vote being cast for her. And in 2020, voters were very clear about their choice: she dropped out before Iowa, receiving not one delegate and about 1% of the vote.

Even the base didn't want her. If given the opportunity to vote, Kamala Harris would not be the Democratic nominee in 2024.

Second, she is a wildly unpopular and unlikable candidate. This has nothing to do with her gender or her race, but her personality and her policies. Including the fact she's a continuation of the unpopular Biden administration policies on the economy, foreign policy, crime, etc.

To wit, watch this video with Nora O'Donnell:

Kamala has this awful, cringeworthy tic -- she smiles awkwardly and laughs (cackles) when she's nervous or unable to answer questions. After nearly four years in the White House, she's been unable to break herself of this habit.

And I don't expect that to change between now and November.

She's in favor of the following radical Leftist policies:

She is a radical Leftist.

She's also the shiny new thing, which is why -- for now -- it seems like the momentum is in her favor.

But it's not. Wisconsin voters already believe she covered up Biden's cognitive decline. And we're not even a week into her candidacy.

All the Democrats did was replaced Tweedle-Dumb with Tweedle-Possibly-Even-Dumber. The policies haven't changed, and have arguably gotten more leftist.

If Kamala Harris -- and the positions she holds -- were electoral wins, the media wouldn't be twisting itself in knots to lie about, delete, and spin her record. Whether as the border czar or as the Senate's most liberal member. They wouldn't be tripping over themselves to sing her praises when just a few weeks ago donors were asking for refunds if she became the nominee.

Right now, yes, it's a sea change and one the Trump campaign must adapt to. But Republicans weren't completely caught off guard here.

This ad dropped within hours of Kamala being the presumptive nominee. Same with this ad from Dave McCormick against Senator Bob Casey (which shows even down-ballot Dems are going to have the albatross that is Kamala around their necks in November).

As Twitchy has shown you, there are numerous videos of Harris endorsing these radical positions, of her cackling when she can't answer questions, of her incomprehensible word salads.

The more the general public, the normies, see of her, the less they'll like her.

Trump did not back out of the debates, either. He said -- and rightly so -- he was waiting until Kamala Harris was confirmed as the nominee. At that time -- and, again rightly so -- the terms of the debates should be re-negotiated. Trump made the agreement to debate Biden, not Harris.

Right-leaning folks need to remember that and not dogpile on Trump for 'backing out' of the debates or unfounded rumors he's replacing Vance (rumors from the same media who lie about everything).

Instead of focusing on the flaws and missteps of the Trump campaign, focus on the important things: the economy, Kamala Harris' ultra-liberal record, the economy, the border, Harris' radical left-wing views, the economy.

Kamala is running on her record as Senator, as AG in California, and VP -- none of it favorable. Add into that the fact she's also running on the Biden administration's platform, and she's starting off behind. Biden himself was in a bad place for an incumbent, and Kamala is less likeable.

Take a look at this poll, too. Less than a week into this campaign, and Kamala is down in seven of nine swing states:

Those are her numbers now. Before campaign ads. Before debates. Before the GOP really begins to hammer her on her record.

And she's the best hope they have. The Democrats could have done something -- snap primaries, a contentious convention -- to nominate someone, anyone else other than Kamala Harris.

The best chance Democrats had was to inoculate themselves from Biden's disastrous four years and pick an outsider untainted by his administration, like Josh Shapiro or Andy Beshear.

But they didn't pick Beshear or Shapiro. They picked Kamala, and now are scrambling to play clean up as more and more of her disastrous record comes to like.

But it's stopping a leak in the dam with your finger: a temporary fix, at best. The floodwaters are coming.

The Left base is fired up, sure. But they'd be fired up for a ham sandwich at this point. Their only goal is to beat Trump, and they'll go to any lengths to defeat him. But -- like the felony charges and the ballot shenanigans, this will backfire on them, too. The AP even lied about JD Vance

This isn't 2020, and this isn't the same Trump. He's been far more disciplined and controlled.

There are things he could do better -- like talking about gas and grocery prices incessantly. And he (and the GOP) need to do major ad blitzes hammering her record, especially in swing states).

But this race is far from over. And don't forget this:

The media who are lying about Kamala's record now -- and who lied about Biden's cognitive health for years -- are telling us it's over? That Trump is backing out of the debates? That Kamala is wonderful and going to win? That Trump is regretting Vance as his VP pick?

All lies. Because that's what they do.

This is all to say Kamala Harris didn't emerge as the new nominee overnight because of any tactical brilliance, strength, or ability on her part. Joe Biden left his proverbial crown laying in the dirt and no other Democrat wanted to pick it up. Why? Because this election is running in the Republicans' favor. No Democrat with a national political future wants to throw it away this cycle, having to play quarterback with the ball so deep in his own end zone. Kamala isn't the most powerful candidate the Democrats can run; she's merely the only one with nothing to lose.

This is her last chance at political relevancy. In 2028, every other Democratic candidate will outshine her, just like they did in 2020.

Don't throw in the towel and don't despair. Keep the faith and keep fighting. We're winning this thing.

And don't let the media -- who have lied to you for years, and are lying to you about Kamala right now -- tell you otherwise.
