'O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!'
This quote, from Scottish poet and historian Sir Walter Scott has been on my mind a lot today.
Neither could I have imagined how this election would play out. I do, however, understand why the saying 'May you live in interesting times' is actually a curse. Because, hoo boy, do we live in interesting times. I'd welcome a little dullness, to be perfectly honest with you.
I suppose the writing was on the wall for Biden's campaign back at the end of June. Someone much smarter than me pointed out the fact that the Biden campaign was never able to shift the focus off of Biden's mental state post-debate, and that was the proverbial death knell for his reelection ambitions (that and the obvious dementia). Just two months ago, the media and the Left were telling us videos of a struggling Biden were fake and deceptively edited (by Republicans, naturally). Now they can't hide behind that accusation anymore.

They had to admit Biden is unwell.
Even the statement released by Biden -- one his staffers knew about only after reading it on X (yikes) -- shows a man not in control. Biden is not making a public statement until later this week. Right now, people are questioning if Biden even knows he dropped out of the race. That's pure speculation, but who knows what to believe given how many times we've been lied to?
But there's what the Democrats say and what the Democrats do.
Pay attention to the latter. They can say they're defenders of democracy all they want, but they've worked very hard to remove not only Donald Trump from the ballot this year, but Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., too.
Speaking of, RFK, Jr. called on the Democratic Party to 'return to its traditional commitment to democracy':
I commend President Biden for stepping down. His infirmities were evident to any unbiased observer from the beginning. It was this progressive deterioration — and his abandonment of Democratic Party principles — that prompted me to enter the race and ensure American voters had a…

The full statement reads:
Yet the response of the DNC was to try and hide President Biden’s degeneration from the American public and disable democracy to ram him through to his party’s nomination.
Many Americans fear that the same DNC elites are about to rig the nominating process again to get a monumentally unpopular vice president to step into President Biden’s shoes.
I call on the Democratic Party to return to its traditional commitment to democracy and exemplify it with an open process. Instead of anointing a candidate hand-picked by DNC elites, the party should use neutral polling to identify the candidate who can best beat Donald Trump. The delegates should then select a nominee based on this information.
If they had done this to begin with, I would not have had to leave the Democratic Party.
He's correct. They had a primary with one candidate on the ballot -- Joe Biden.
And now Biden has dropped out, leaving Democratic Party voters with no choice, and a party in the hands of delegates (at best) or one where the new nominee was picked by the guy who is unfit to continue his campaign.
Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris, and the Clintons have echoed that endorsement. Kamala Harris herself said she's grateful for the endorsement and hopes to 'earn' the nomination.
But Harris is not a good candidate. She received zero delegates in 2020, and a small percentage of the votes. Her 2024 polling has been bad, and is within the margin of error in a head-to-head with Trump. She's less likable than Hillary Clinton, despite several attempts to reboot her public persona. Even The Atlantic questioned her preparedness to be POTUS, and the Left was outraged.
My point is this:
Today -- and everything that follows -- is a culmination of decades of power-hungry Democrats, including Biden himself, and a compliant media arm running propaganda creating a tangled web of lies, deceit, and corruption. It was bound to fall apart eventually.
This is eventually.
And it's all self-inflicted.
For ages now the Democratic Party has screamed that Trump is a threat to democracy and only they can defend us from Trump's inevitable tyranny (they expect us to ignore the fact Trump was president for four years and democracy survived just fine). They thought they'd get away with it. They aren't.
Where are they now?
Their candidate is out, and their likely replacement is an unpopular dumpster fire who speaks like a sixth grader giving an oral book report for a novel she didn't read. It's very possible they will lose -- and lose bigly -- to Donald Trump in November. Any potential vice presidential running mate won't want to sink his or her career along with Harris sinking hers.
On top of it all -- no one trusts them. As I mentioned above, people are starting to wonder if Biden even had any idea he released a statement dropping out of the race today. The level of mistrust towards this administration is astronomical. Like everything else, it's also self-inflicted.
The Democratic Party and the media are finally reaping what they've sown. For decades. The lies, the deceit, the power-grabs.
They are not defenders of democracy. They are losers, and political hacks. They spent the last two years lecturing us on democracy and yet they tried to pull off the greatest electoral fraud in a century: they knew Joe Biden was incompetent and tried to force him on the country anyway. We are not sure of Biden's medical diagnosis, but we are sure that it didn't happen on June 27th. They knew how bad Biden was and were perfectly willing to lie about it.
In fact, they're perfectly okay with Biden run the country despite his decline. The only reason he dropped out is because they're afraid he'll lose. As I said -- they lied because they wanted power, and it's blown up in their faces on national television did they rethink their position.
And they deserve every single bit of the pain and humiliation that has befallen them today.
