Deadly DEI: UC Davis Breast Cancer Surgical Applicant Requirements Show Danger of Woke Healthcare

In my day job, I am a nurse, and I am currently finishing my BSN program. The last class I'm required to take deals with research and 'evidenced-based practice' -- that is, applying research to policies and practices nurses use on a daily basis. The logic behind this is simple: research leads to evidence that certain things (be they medications, procedures, supplies) work better than others, and using the things that work better will improve patient outcomes.

That should, ostensibly, be the goal of the health care provider, second only to 'do no harm': improve patient outcomes.

Unfortunately, as 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' policies infiltrate healthcare, both 'do no harm' and improving patient outcomes are taking back seats to virtue signaling.

Applicants for a job as a surgical oncologist must submit a “Statement of Contributions to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” to be considered at the University of California Davis.

“Contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion documented in the application file will be used to evaluate applicants,” the job listing for an “academic surgical oncologist/breast surgeon” states.

The job is with UC Davis’ surgery department in its health department.

University policy requires all faculty applicants to “submit a statement about their past, present, and future contributions to promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity in their professional careers.”

I've written extensively about DEI in the past -- both in general and in healthcare. From Ben Shapiro exposing DEI in healthcare (and the subsequent fallout of his reporting), to the fact DEI has jeopardized the lives of those on the kidney transplant list -- it's bad.

And unless we put a stop to it, it will cost many, many more lives.

I don't know how else to sound the alarm on this.

The Left doesn't care if you die. They don't.

What they do care about is virtue signaling, and feeling morally superior.

For a while, I wondered how they could make idiotic business decisions like the ones at Bud Light, Doritos, or Planet Fitness. How could they harm a business's bottom line to appease the woke mob?

And I get it now: they don't care. They will bankrupt every business in this country if it means advancing their agenda. Profits, shareholders, employees be damned.

They are like locusts: swarm, destroy, and move on.

Having left the smoldering ruins of non-healthcare businesses behind them, they've turned their attention to things like air traffic control and health care.

This is why surgeons at UC Davis need to tell their prospective employer how they'll advance DEI, but not their research or teaching experience.

The Left doesn't care about those things. They don't want you to have competent, capable surgeons (or functioning businesses, or competent air traffic controllers). They want their socially engineered diversity quotas met. They want DEI statements in employee files and pronouns in email signatures.

They will destroy every institution, every policy, every safety standard and safeguard to build their so-called utopia.

They will let you, or your loved ones, die to achieve their ends. In fact, they'll pat themselves on the back for making it possible.

It only stops if we hold them accountable and only if we go scorched-earth on these policies today. 

Before they can do real harm.
